How to Get Started

(a) For Residents of Public Housing Estates

Approach your Residents' Committee to start your garden in your neighbourhood.

Approach your Neighbourhood Committee to cultivate a roadside garden in front of your house or at a nearby park.

Form a gardening group to create your garden:

  • Within the compound of your school
  • At a plot near your school within the Public Housing Estate

NParks will also guide and share horticultural knowledge, gardening skills and tips with residents, students, teachers, staff and volunteers who are keen on starting up gardening projects. We'll teach you how to:

  • Choose a suitable site for gardening
  • Work out the garden layout
  • Select plants
  • Make the most of your gardening skills

Following the popularity of Community Gardens and Allotment Gardens, NParks has produced 2 design guidelines which shares key design principles. They include information for design, management practices, and implementation processes for communities when setting up a community garden or an allotment garden
